MEDIA RELEASE

PLAYFORD ROAD RESERVE COMPLETE
The Albanese Government continues to partner with Campbelltown City Council to get high-priority local community infrastructure off the ground, with the construction of the Playford Road
Reserve at Newton, in Adelaide’s north-east, officially complete.

The project saw the redevelopment of a once under-utilised reserve into a multi-use space,
which the whole community can now enjoy.

Works included the installation of a full-size tennis court, and half-size netball and basketball courts.
As well as this, the park now features a nature play area, sensory and educational gardens of
cultural significance, accessible paths, barbeque and shelter, toilets and car parking.

Undertaken over two stages, the space was designed in close consultation with the community
and, caters to all ages and abilities.

The nearly $3.4 million project was supported by $1.1 million from the Albanese Government
under the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) Program and over $2.2 million
from Campbelltown City Council.

The project was completed in November, just in time for families to be able to utilise the park
over the summer holiday period and supported 16 jobs during its construction.

Quotes attributable to Federal Minister for Local Government, Kristy McBain MP:

“I started my journey in Local Government because of a decision made about a park in my own
community, so it’s fantastic to see our partnership with Campbelltown City Council making this
dynamic space a reality.
“This project is just one of many projects with which we’re partnering with Campbelltown City
Council, as part of nearly $4.3 million in LRCI funding from the Australian Government.”

Quotes attributable to Labor Senator for South Australia, Marielle Smith:

“The Playford Road Reserve is another great project for our state thanks to the Albanese
